My name is Anthony Frye and I'm a licensed Enrolled Agent (EA) and CPA candidate. I was born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley. I also graduated from James Madison University (JMU) in Harrisonburg, VA (Go Dukes!).I primarily work with startups and companies generating up to $10M in annual revenue. Companies hire me when they need their financials clean up, they need someone to own the monthly accounting and when they are looking to understand what their financials are actually telling them.I've worked across various industries such as Home Services (Trades), SaaS, Online Companies, Professional Services, Ecommerce, Junk Removal, Childcare Facilities and more. Working across professions allows my clients to take advantage of my experience so I can apply what works in other industries to their company.When I'm not reconciling accounts, providing cash flow management or leading an accounting team, I enjoy spending time with my wife Katie and 3 kiddos Ella, Jordan and Brody. I enjoy playing basketball and I also volunteer as the Treasurer for our local elementary school.

Services

1) Accounting Clean Up

Your books in QBO are messy, haven't been reconciled in months and are not tax-ready, audit-ready or bank-ready. I clean up your financials to get them where they need to be so you are ready and can start making reliable business decisions.Once your books are cleaned up, we can either continue with my Monthly Accounting engagement or I can help you find someone to fill the role.

2) Monthly Accounting

You've been doing your own accounting but you've hit capacity. You find that the accounting is "getting in your way". This is a clear sign that you are ready to bring someone onboard to keep your accounting up to date, close your books timely each month and deliver accurate financial reports.This includes various services such as AR, AP, Payroll, Sales Tax, 1099s, Inventory Management, Job Costing and much more.

3) Controllership & Advisory

You have an accountant already in place that is providing a great service but you are the one overseeing that person. No need to replace your accountant as I simply step in to be that fractional leader to oversee the accounting team, manage the month-end close and produce actionable reports.This can include various services such as Budget vs. Actuals (BvA), Cash Flow Management, EBITDA Normalization, Internal Controls, Staff Oversight and much more.

4) Consulting

If you're looking for staff training, to map out what your accounting function should look like, establish internal controls or ask any other questions, starting with project-based consulting is for you.

Process

Step 1 - Discovery

We will hop on a free Discovery Call where we have a casual conversation about your business, the issues you're experiencing and so forth. At the end, if you find we aren't a fit for one another, no problem. I can also give you referrals who might be a better fit for what you're looking for.

Step 2 - Onboarding

If you decide to move forward, the Onboarding process will begin. You will be setup with your own secure portal for sensitive documents.Some common things that happen during Onboarding are gaining Accountant access to QBO, being granted view-only access to platforms (like bank accounts), uploading prior year tax returns and so forth.

Step 3 - The Work

This is the fun part for us accountants. I'll dig into your books, clean them up, make recommendations, provide insights, improve efficiencies and so forth.All-in-all, this stage is about really dialing in your accounting systems, processes and tying operations to your accounting function. The goal is to make your accounting function as robust and efficient as possible.

Step 4 - Ongoing Support / Hand Off

This is what I would call "Steady State" for the books. Things are really dialed in, the books are closed within 5-10 days and there isn't too much variation from month-to-month.At this point, there are two directions you could go. First, I would continue to do your monthly accounting. Or, I would hand off everything and train an internal team member after developing the systems, processes and SOPs that run the accounting function.

FAQs

I offer various accounting services but let me explain what services I do not offer. I do not offer tax preparation, tax advisory, audits, compilations, reviews or attestation services.
I only use QuickBooks Online (QBO). Other supporting software I mainly use with clients are A2X, ServiceTitan, ADP, Gusto, Ramp, Bill.com, Box.com and Rippling.
I try to quote all my engagements as a monthly or project-based fixed-fee. However, sometimes that's not possible and an hourly fee will be assessed and billed upon milestones reached with the project. Yes, I accept credit cards.
I will gather all the necessary documents to reconcile accounts and post your financials by the 10th of the month along with a financial overview video. However, if I do not have view-only access to necessary accounts, month-end close timing will also depend on how fast you get me your documents.
